Certified Nurse Assistant / Home Health Aide

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) Dual Credential Program

College of Marin Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) is an Education-to-Career (E2C) modeled initiative.  The E2C model is defined by secured partnerships including 1) community-based organizations to recruit and support students through their trainings 2) College of Marin to provide curriculum, instruction, and overarching programmatic coordination, and 3) industry partnerships to secure employment opportunities for students successfully completing the program. Canal Alliance, College of Marin and By the Bay Health collaborated in creating this program.

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) and Home Health Aides (HHA) provide long-term care to the elderly and disabled in skilled nursing facilities and home settings. CNA and HHA professionals are critical members of a healthcare team and provide direct support to nurses and patients in skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, clinics, and hospitals.

During the program, students will complete a minimum of 80 hours of classroom instruction, skills lab sessions, and examinations, plus 120 hours of clinical rotations. The program will be offered through not-for-credit, community programs during Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024 and span approximately 10-12 weeks. Clinical hours are held in a long-term care facility in Marin County. The course is limited to 20 students per cohort. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an Acknowledgement of Completion from College of Marin and be eligible to take the State Certification exam. Classes will be held at the Indian Valley Campus.
