WORKFORCE GRANTS & FUNDS
Strong Workforce
Purpose: Expand career technical education programs: 1) develop new career pathways; 2) increase faculty; 3) strengthen curriculum; and, 4) improve regional cooperation among colleges, businesses, and other groups.
The funding, included in the state budget signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2016, creates the “Strong Workforce Program,” an initiative aimed at boosting the number of skilled workers produced by community colleges.
Perkins for CTE Programs
Purpose: Supports the development of academic and career and technical skills among secondary education students and postsecondary education students who elect to enroll in career and technical education (CTE) programs, sometimes referred to as vocational education programs.
Adult Education
Purpose: Provide adults with the basic knowledge and skills needed to participate in civic life and workforce by restructuring the way adult educated is run in Marin. Build new programs based on the strength of area adult schools and College of Marin.
